ESSPA FAQ’s
- How old do I have to be to play in the ESSPA league
We are a Senior League so if you are a Woman turning 45 or a Male turning 50 in the current ball season, then you are eligible to play in all of our divisions
- Women’s Teams Division
- Co-ed Teams Division
- Co-ed Individual Division 1
- Co-ed Individual Division 2
***IF you are over 35 years old and are looking for a league to play in that is more suited to your age, then we hope to be a fit for you. We are in the process of creating a 35yrs + Teams Division at ESSPA.
- What is the difference between a Teams Division and signing up as an Individual Player or Spare?
Teams divisions are entered by a captain or coach and fees are incurred based on the team entry. The captain then recruits their own players to join the team and then collects a fee based on the number of participants they recruit.
Individual co-ed divisions or Spare player registrations are for individuals who do not have a team to play on but want to participate in the sport. In these divisions players will be assessed and then placed on a team by means of a draft. This process is repeated at the beginning of every season insuring that teams have a new mix of players every season. However, if you are an individual and would like to be placed on a team in the Co-ed Teams Division, we can forward your name to those coaches and hopefully get you placed on one of those teams. We recommend registering as a spare, there is no fee for this, and then reach out to our registrar (email: registrar@esspa.ca) to have your information taken so that we can let those coaches know your skill level and desire to play in that specific division.
- What nights do we play?

*Basically, all divisions play 2 games per week. They can be double headers or single games twice a week.
- How long is the season / how many games do we play?
Depending on weather, the season runs May 1 through August 31, and typically works out to 32 games of regular play with the opportunity for playoffs and/or post season games.
- Where are the games played?
All games are played at our Edmonton premier diamonds located at 11303 113 St NW. Facilities include heated washrooms and regularly maintained and fenced four diamond ball park.

- Are there tournaments we can participate in?
Yes! We usually host about 4 tournaments at the ESSPA park throughout the season.
NOTE: the guidelines for age requirements as well as fees associated with the said tournaments are separate from any league play. The typical fees for the tournaments run from $0 - $550 per team. These tournaments are usually open to other teams who are not part of out regular league play as well. Please keep checking our website or contact tournaments@esspa.ca for more information.
- Am I required to volunteer as a member of ESSPA?
No, however any help we can get is greatly appreciated! We are always looking for volunteers to help with our tournaments (concession - food and beverage) as well as diamond clean up, team leaders, executive members and casino events. Just let us know if you are interested - every little bit is a great help to the upkeep our facility and league.
